Mission
Our mission is the empowerment of smallholder farmers through livestock breeding programs.
Vision
At Dtreo Foundation, we envision a world where smallholder farmers thrive economically through sustainable livestock breeding, leading to healthier communities and enhanced livelihoods. Our programs are designed to uplift and transform agricultural practices in developing regions, fostering self-reliance and resilience.
AbacusBio, the creator of the Dtreo software platform for livestock recording, started supporting Project Mesha in the Bihar State of India in 2018. Project Mesha continues to be implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation but since 2024, the Gates Foundation support for the wider initiative supporting women goat rearers concluded. Dtreo Foundation has helped keep the community based breeding initiative thriving by covering the full cost of the Software as a Service fees required for them to continue using Dtreo. This allows scarce on-the-ground resources to be used in supporting implementation, and progress towards self sufficiency of the initiative.
